Waiting For Ava

“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, be patient! For it will surely take place. It will not be late by a single day.” Habakkuk 2:3

Exciting Times

We went to the bank today and ordered our US funds needed for the trip. The bank Manager was very nice. I explained that we would need new bills and she told me that she would over look the ordering of the money. She suggested that we open up a US account. So we did. When we got home we ordered our plane tickets over the Internet. Now we have seat numbers. It makes things so real. I called Air Canada to order a ticket for Ava. The lady was very nice. She was of great help to us. She informed me that she has done this a million times before so she was well aware of how Ava's name has to appear on the ticket. That was a relief. I was a little stressed about that part. She even got us different seats than what we had actually picked out for the return flight. We picked seats near the back of the plane and she said that she knows from experience that when people fly back with their adopted child that the Air Canada staff tries to open up seats for these people at the front of the plane. So now we are near the front. We have a doctor's appointment for this coming Monday in order to go over Ava's file. Our adoption practitioner is coming over this coming Monday evening to go over Ava'a file with us. We are so excited right now. I honestly don't know how we are going to make it till July 23rd. That's when we fly out.

Ava's Referral Documents Came Today

We found out more about Ava because her referral documents came today. She lived at the Guiping SWI from late September until December 2008. She was then placed in a foster home. She has been there since. It actually makes us happy that she is at a foster home. She will probably be getting more one on one care there. The actual pictures of her are much nicer. You can see more definition in them. She looks very serious in her mug shot. It is our favourite picture of her.

The Guiping SWI

This is a picture of where Ava lived for three months. It looks very nice. Hopefully we will get to go visit it while we are in China. Ava now lives in a foster home.

Pinch me am I dreaming?

Well I have to say the last few days have been exhausting but incredible. We are so in love with our beautiful daughter. I can not believe its real!
We have been in contact with most of our group and it looks like most of our daughters are from the same Social Welfare Institute. Most have Jin Mei at the start of their names and then a different name at the end. The first name -Jin- is actually like our last names and the last name-Yuan- would be our first name. Jin Mei could be a name the SWI uses for all of their baby girls. I have heard from others that Jin means gold and Mei means beautiful. If you add Ava which means bird/birdlike we have a beautiful golden bird. Sounds good to me.
We had a comment on the blog telling us to rethink using Jin Mei as her middle names because of Jin actually being her chinese last name. They thought that it wouldn't make sense when she is older. I am not sure why this would matter but I actually quite like it and I like the fact that is connects her to her first home and her "sisters" from our travel group.
We did some shopping today but unfortunately Mike kept me away from the cute outfits and made me spend my money on practical things for our trip. Some how buying Pepto Bismol and rectal thermometers is not as fun as I had hoped.
We have had some people ask about what we need and where are we registered. We feel weird about asking for anything but understand this is what people do and it makes it easier for anyone wanting to buy Ava a gift. It is difficult though. Most people only have 9 months to prepare. Lucky us, we have had 3.5 years to stock up. LOL
We have almost everything we need. We have a couple of bigger items still to get, like a car seat and high chair as well as all of the little things that are not quite as much fun as cute little dresses.
I took some time to register online tonite at www.babiesrus.ca as well as a website we found when researching our diapering decision http://www.parentingbynature.com/.
Now that we have Ava we have all that could ask for. I can hardly wait to kiss those chubby cheeks!

Good News Is Finally Coming Our Way

The time has finally come. We are so excited right now. I e-mailed our agency and they have confirmed that the CCAA  has updated their website to reflect that they have referred up until March 14,2006. She said that good news is on it's way. That probably means that we will be getting our referral tomorrow or Monday next week. I'm heading off to work so I think that I will take my cell phone with me. It's finally happening for us.

Not falling for it...trying not to anyway.

Well early rumours this week are that a few agencies are stating that the cut-off is the 14th(us) and referrals will be coming soon. We have all heard that before...many times and many disappointments later it is said again. I am trying to remain neutral and I truly don't want to fall for it again but it is so hard.
Keep your fingers crossed for us! Hopefully goods things are soon to come.
Thanks everybody for your support. It means so much!

FRUSTRATION

We are at the breaking point. Frustrated, pissed off, emotionally drained. It looks as though there will be no referrals for the month of May. In fact it looks like the CCAA has even stopped matching for now. China apparently has two adoption families in quarantine right now. Who knows when things will get back to normal. All this over a f#@##@ flu. Who knew that after waiting over four years that it would come down to a flu bug. What's that famous saying? So close but yet so far away. That is us in a nut shell. Pathetic. I know! I come home every day from work and the first thing I do is check the computer for any updates. Expecting good things. It really is a terrible way to live.

Waiting Yet Another Weekend

Here we are again. Left to just sit and wait for another Monday to roll around. Just to catch a glimpse of new rumours about the latest referrals. I don't know what to believe anymore. We got our hopes up so much two weekends ago just to get them crushed. After awhile you start to try not to get too excited because if there is one thing that we've learnt its that so many things can happen. It seemed like last two weekends ago that after a four year wait that we were next. In about a week we were hoping to have gotten our referral. Then the H1N1 flew hit. Then we saw rumours that the CCAA were going to put things on hold for at least 20 to 30 days. Now there are rumours that the CCAA is back to matching and that they are going to reach March 15,2006. Who knows whats true and what isn't. I guess we won't know for sure until we actually get a call from Children's Bridge. Here's to hoping that we get that call next week.
