Waiting For Ava

“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, be patient! For it will surely take place. It will not be late by a single day.” Habakkuk 2:3

Adopt Talk Seminar Weekend

Well. It was our weekend to attend the Adopt Talk seminar. We have certainly learnt alot more than we were expecting to. Both Terri and I feel more prepared than ever to travel to China and what to expect when we are there. We've learnt how to deal with alot of issues that will come up once we are home with Ava. I would certainly recommend this seminar to anyone involved in international adoption. It will be helpful info for anyone who attends it. We got to meet six other couples involved in international adoption. One couple adopting from South Korea, one couple adopting from Vietnam and four other couples adopting from China. I hope that we can keep in touch with each other because we would certainly like to see them become families and or add to their current families. I think that it is absolutely fantastic to have other couples who are going through what you are going through. We can be sounding boards for each other when we need it.

One Year Ago Today

Exactly one year ago today we received confirmation that the C.C.A.A had registered our dossier in China. We were so happy and so full of excitement. I think that we actually thought then that we were so much closer to receiving our daughter. Now one year later and still waiting. I hope that the next year goes as fast as this past year seems to have. We have vicariously lived through other lucky parents who have received their children within this past year. For that I would like to thank those people who we have been following and wish them nothing but the best. They have unknowingly helped us get through this past year.

Six - Twelve - Eighteen Months now TWO YEARS

Terri and I had to ask Children's Bridge for a letter to give to the National Bank for our adoption loan. The loan is a loan on demand. So you only take the money as you need it. We applied for the loan in February 2006. We were told that it was only good for one year and after a year we would have to apply for an extention on the loan. When we called the bank in February of this year they asked us for a letter from Children's Bridge. When we received the letter it stated that Children's Bridge expects us to be travelling spring or summer 2008. How depressing is that? To think when we started this process we totally expected to be receiving our referral in six months. Now it seems like every time we turn around the waiting time is getting longer. When we started this process we were thinking that we would be going back for a second child by now. Now the thought of a second child from China is getting pretty bleek.
