Waiting For Ava

“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, be patient! For it will surely take place. It will not be late by a single day.” Habakkuk 2:3

Back From Vacation **Update

** Just so everyone knows. We are not gun people we would never own a gun but Mike has always dreamed of being a police officer. Going to the gun range was something that was on his "Bucket List" (fabulous movie by the way, friggin' hilarious). Thank goodness we can cross that one off the list. I did try the gun range as well but was terrified. I was shaking so bad and my hands were so sweaty I thought the gun would fly out of my hands on the recoil. NEVER again for me and certainly reinforces the fact that I will never have any kind of gun in my home!

We just got back from a vacation in Florida. We had a great time. The weather was unbelievable. The average temperature was around 85. We played a round of golf on each day. Golf there is great. We went to a gun range. Something I've always wanted to do. It was so much fun. I shot a 40 caliber hand gun. The man running the range said that the gun that I shot was the gun that the F.B.I agents use. It was cool. The second gun that I shot was a Smith and Wesson 460 caliber. The largest hand gun made today. The kick back on this gun was enormous. When I Started firing the gun the other people in the range stopped to look at what I was shooting because it was so loud. I would definitely do it again . I am even thinking about joining a local gun club. We were talking to the man running the gun range in Orlando, Florida about the gun rules in Florida. He was saying that anyone over the age of 18 could apply for a gun permit. Once you get the permit then you could carry a hand gun anywhere you want as long as it is concealed. Isn't that insane. That means that no matter where you go in Florida there is probably people there with concealed hand guns. CRAZY.

I thought shooting the gun was a great experience. I enjoyed the challenge and the adrenalin. Nothing like stepping outside your comfort zone to do something scary. I too was terrified; but, I think it gave me a better respect for the power of a gun. What you see on television doesn't give you any idea about how dangerous they are.
I would do it again; but, I wouldn't have a gun in my house (with or with out a kid) because I think it instantly elevates a dangerous situation if you pull it out.
I would do it as a sport and keep the gun outside my home.
